Villa hands Manchester City first loss in 10 games

Aston Villa defeated Manchester City 1-0 on Sunday to hand the visitors their first defeat in 10 matches across all competitions. Matty Cash scored midway through the first half when he fired home from just outside the penalty area after receiving a corner kick. The result moved Villa within one point of City, who dropped six points behind league leaders Arsenal.

City striker Erling Haaland had a late goal disallowed for offside after scoring in his previous 12 matches for club and country. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made key saves to preserve the clean sheet at Villa Park, where City have now lost three consecutive matches. Villa extended their unbeaten league run to six games with their fourth straight victory.
