Yangon hosts MSME Tazaungdine Fair with music, culture and trade
Yangon’s regional government launched a four-day marketplace and entertainment festival on Friday morning at People’s Square in Dagon Township, drawing Chief Minister U Soe Thein alongside judicial leaders, business federation representatives and small enterprise owners. The chief minister told attendees to relax while shopping for bargains and called on producers to craft export-quality goods through constructive rivalry that strengthens small and medium businesses nationwide.
More than 630 vendor stalls will operate daily through Monday from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m., selling regional merchandise, rice products, and solar equipment while bookshops target student readers. Cultural acts featured traditional Kayin dancing followed by musical groups, with officials presenting recognition awards after performances concluded. Talk sessions will educate entrepreneurs about state assistance programs between appearances by film and theater personalities.
Religious observances allow lamp offerings to Buddha while hot air balloons launch and pyrotechnics illuminate the full moon evening. Regional authorities coordinated donated meals for visitors and arranged public bus routes to ease festival access. Development Minister U Bo Htay joined economic affairs officials and industrial zone chairpersons to formally begin activities at the gathering organized by multiple government departments and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
