Zahid calls Sabah election Umno’s last chance to prove strength

Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi is making it clear—Sabah’s upcoming state election is do or die for Umno. He called it the party’s last shot to prove its worth before Malaysia’s big national election. Zahid admitted Umno is the underdog in Sabah but said this is their chance to show they’ve still got it.

In Sabah’s shaky political climate, Zahid insists no party can go it alone. Umno will stick with Barisan Nasional’s alliance with Pakatan Harapan to avoid clashes at the polls. And while they’re open to future deals with others, Zahid insists the right candidates, especially young and female, are already lined up.

Zahid’s got his eyes on bigger battles ahead, stressing this election is a practice run for challenges in Melaka, Johor, and beyond. The clock’s ticking with the election deadline fast approaching—Sabah’s fate is in the balance.
