ZANU PF kicks off conference with Politburo meeting in Harare

Zanu-PF’s 22nd Annual National People’s Conference kicks off today with a Politburo meeting at the party’s headquarters in Harare, marking the start of a week-long event that will conclude in Mutare this weekend. President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the party’s First Secretary, is leading the meeting, followed by a Central Committee session tomorrow before delegates travel to Mutare for the main conference on Friday and Saturday.

Zanu-PF spokesperson Cde Chris Mutsvangwa confirmed the schedule, with delegates expected to return to their provinces on Sunday. President Mnangagwa will commission key projects in Manicaland, including the Mega Market Milling Plant and National Pharmaceutical Warehouse. He will also launch a national tree-planting initiative.

Cde Farai Marapira emphasized that the conference provides a platform to assess the party’s progress and plan for the future, with discussions focusing on key economic and political issues. Zanu-PF National Chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri reported that nearly US$4 million had been raised for the event, with surplus resources to be donated to charity.
