Zanu PF to back Mnangagwa’s 2030 bid at Mutare meet

Zanu PF plans to use its annual conference on Friday to show off its loyalty to Mnangagwa and push for his rule until 2030. The party top brass says there is unity, but behind the scenes, members have fought over the decision, and some accuse Mnangagwa’s allies of corruption. Chiwenga reportedly dropped evidence of this at a Politburo meeting, but the party line stays the same: there is no division, just support for the boss.

The gathering will run until Oct. 18 in Mutare, with about 4,000 delegates, a sharp drop from past years. Officials brush aside any talk of factions or succession, saying such matters will only come up at Congress in 2027. The party claims it will not meddle in corruption cases and insists that the only agenda is to praise Mnangagwa’s leadership.
